Meet Our Team

David Cocco – President & Chief Executive Officer

David serves as Founder and CEO of North Star Lodging Management and North Star Lodging & Development.  David’s hospitality career spans over a four-decade progression from bartending at a Holiday Inn in Pittsburgh, to managing and developing hotels across the country, and to ultimately launching North Star Lodging & Development in 2014.

Before starting North Star Lodging & Development, David experienced 30 years in every conceivable role in the hospitality industry including Food & Beverage, Director, General Manager of Full-Service Hotels, Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Development and COO.

While in his various roles, he and his team members were recipients of many prestigious awards given by Marriott International including “Custom Design Hotel of the Year”, “Hotel Opening of the Year”, “General Manager of the Year” among others.  Ultimately, David and his team received the “Partnership Circle Award” from Marriott International, which is the most prestigious award given to the “best of the best” of Marriott’s franchisees.

David’s passion is people, and people are the center of the hospitality industry.  This is the foundation upon which the North Star companies were built.  Part of David’s weekly routine is to read every guest comment from each of his hotels to better understand the guest experiences and to assist his team in providing guests with the ultimate guest experience.

David has a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  He has been married to his wife, Bridget, for nearly three decades and together they have four wonderful, adult children.

Jack Macioce – Chief Financial Officer

Jack Macioce serves as Chief Financial Officer for North Star Lodging & Development.  Jack joined North Star in 2019 and brought with him over 15 years of experience in accounting and real estate development and management.  He has previously worked for a public accounting firm and a large, regional real estate developer and management company.

Jack is responsible for the overall financial management of the company as well as the hotels managed by North Star Lodging Management, with a focus on treasury management, internal controls, financial reporting, human resources, and operations. He has been able to scale the company’s accounting responsibilities by leveraging technology and form strategic industry partnerships.

In addition, Jack works collaboratively with partners, investors and lenders on acquisitions, development underwriting and feasibility, and financing. He provides support in compliance, debt management, and strategic analysis

Jack holds a B.S.B.A. in Accounting and Information Technology from Duquesne University and is a licensed CPA (inactive) in the State of Pennsylvania.  Jack is also an active member of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) through its Leadership Excellence Series.

He and his wife, Lindsay, have three children and reside in Western Pennsylvania.

Cindy Dohmlo – Vice President of Operations

Ms. Dohmlo is considered one of the most experienced and dedicated hospitality professionals, with over 30 years of hospitality management experience.

Education

Ms. Dohmlo holds a BS in business administration from Robert Morris University.

Award

Ms. Dohmlo has been recognized numerous times for her outstanding work at multiple companies. She won Opening Hotel of the Year and was a multi-finalist for General Manager of the Year with Marriott International, along with multiple large regional management companies.

Previous Experience

Ms. Dohmlo’s previous experience includes onboarding distressed properties taken over by a hotel management company. As a task force member, she performed crucial actions, including inventory management, HR onboarding, and SOP distribution.

In her current role, Ms. Dohmlo oversees hotel operations and human resources actions in North Star Lodging Management’s portfolio, including benefits, payroll, and policy implementation. In addition, her expertise in managing P&L flow-through to maximize hotel returns is integral to each hotel’s success

Local Hotel Brings Home Award

Bethesda, MD—6/17/2022—On June 6th, 2022, at the virtual awards ceremony, Marriott International announced award winners for their 2020-2021 Select Brand Hotels which include Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, and Townplace Suites by Marriott.

There were many changes to the type and quantity of awards and their required criteria due to the business disruption from the global pandemic. Awards are based on customer feedback received throughout the year, hotel performance, and individual nominations received.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites – Morganton Historic Downtown was the recipient of the prestigious 2021 Silver Circle Award. To receive this honor, the hotel must be open for a minimum of one year and consistently rank in the top 20% of the brand globally in guest satisfaction. This is an incredible accomplishment for this hotel as it opened two weeks prior to the government shutting down most businesses due to the global pandemic in March 2020.

The hotel, led by General Manager Rebecca Randolph and her team, persevered through the pandemic and provided outstanding service, exceptional and clean accommodations, and an appetizing breakfast to every guest who walked in the door.
