Emily
Business Executive | North Star Lodging & Development
Emily is VP, People and Culture at NSLM, where she is building and leading the company’s People and Culture and employee relations functions. She is developing the HR structure, processes, and policies that support NSLM’s growth while fostering a workplace where people can do their best work. She brings more than two decades of human resources and leadership experience, with a science mind and a heart for helping people.
Emily earned her BS in Psychology from Penn State and began her career with ten years in human resources at UPMC. She started in talent acquisition and advanced into senior roles as an employee relations consultant, advising leaders through complex workforce issues in a large, highly regulated healthcare system. She went on to hold leadership roles in privately owned Specialty and Hospice Care Pharmacy in Pittsburgh, coaching and working alongside senior leaders as they grew their teams.
As a member of the executive leadership team at PANTHERx, Emily led individual and team development through a period of rapid, sustained growth, as the organization scaled many times over in just six years. She built the HR function from the ground up, establishing the policies, compliance programs, and employment practices needed to support a fast-growing, highly regulated organization, and partnering closely with legal counsel to manage risk as the company expanded. She also oversaw Talent Acquisition and Learning and Development across the company, making sure its people and processes kept pace with the business.
Her experience also includes work as a facilitator with Ignitor Leadership Development, where she has led human capital projects and brought an executive perspective to leadership development. At NSLM, Emily draws on that experience to help leaders stay effective and to strengthen the organization’s HR functions as it grows and meets the challenges of today and tomorrow.
